Dental Crowns & Bridges Lindenhurst NY — Same-Day CEREC Crowns Available
A crown protects a severely damaged or root canal-treated tooth from breaking. A bridge replaces one or two missing teeth without surgery. Both are permanent, natural-looking restorations we place at our Lindenhurst dental office. CEREC same-day crowns available — designed, milled, and placed in one visit.

Crowns vs. bridges — what’s the difference?
When Do You Need a Crown — And When Do You Need a Bridge?
A dental crown is a cap that fits over your existing tooth. It’s used when a tooth is too damaged or decayed to hold a filling — after a root canal, for a cracked tooth, or for a tooth with a very large filling that’s failing. The crown restores the tooth’s full shape, size, strength, and appearance.
A dental bridge is used when a tooth is completely missing. It literally “bridges” the gap by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the space. The adjacent teeth (abutments) are prepared and crowned, and a false tooth (pontic) sits in between, filling the gap without surgery.
The key difference: crowns restore existing teeth, bridges replace missing ones. If you have a root canal-treated tooth, you almost certainly need a crown — a treated tooth becomes brittle and will fracture without protection.

Crown vs. Implant
A crown works when your natural tooth root is still present and healthy. If the tooth is fully extracted, an implant ($3,000–$5,000) replaces the root too. Crowns are the better choice when the root can be saved — faster, less surgical, and often covered by insurance.
Financing Options
We accept CareCredit with 0% interest promotional periods. Ask our front desk about splitting the cost of a crown or bridge into monthly payments that fit your budget.

How Crown Placement Works
Most crowns take two appointments (traditional) or one (CEREC). Here’s the step-by-step process for a traditional crown:
Exam & X-Rays
We assess the tooth and surrounding bone. If a root canal is needed first, we’ll discuss that before proceeding. You’ll get a complete cost breakdown upfront.
Tooth Preparation
We numb the area and reshape the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel so the crown fits snugly. A digital scan or traditional impression captures the exact shape.
Temporary Crown (if traditional)
A temporary crown protects the prepared tooth while the lab fabricates your permanent one — usually 2–3 weeks. With CEREC, skip this step entirely.
Permanent Placement
Your permanent crown is checked for fit and bite, then bonded in place with dental cement. After a few adjustments, you leave with a fully restored tooth.
How Long Do Crowns Last?
Porcelain and CEREC crowns typically last 10–15 years, often longer with good oral hygiene. PFM crowns are similar. The most common reasons for replacement are cracked porcelain, new decay at the margin, or a failed root. Brush and floss normally; avoid chewing ice or using teeth as tools.

Common questions
Crowns & Bridges — FAQ
Does getting a crown hurt?
The procedure is done under local anesthesia — you’ll feel pressure but not pain during preparation. Some sensitivity is normal for a few days after. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen handle it well. If sensitivity persists beyond a week or two, call us.
Can I get a crown the same day?
Yes, with CEREC. We scan your tooth, design the crown on-screen, mill it from a ceramic block while you wait, and bond it in place — all in one appointment. No temporary crown, no second visit, no impression tray. Ask about CEREC availability when you call.
Will my insurance cover a crown?
Most dental PPO plans cover crowns at 50% after the deductible, up to your annual maximum. Delta Dental PPO is accepted here. We verify your benefits before the appointment and give you a written cost estimate so there are no surprises. Bridges are often partially covered as well.
Is a bridge better than an implant?
It depends. A bridge is faster (2 appointments vs. 3–6 months for an implant), less expensive ($2,500–5,500 vs. $3,000–5,000+), and often covered by insurance. The downside: the adjacent teeth must be crowned, even if they’re healthy. Implants preserve those teeth but require surgery and a longer timeline. We’ll help you weigh both options at your consultation.
How do I care for a crown or bridge?
Brush twice daily and floss normally around a crown. For a bridge, use a floss threader or water flosser to clean under the pontic (the fake tooth). Avoid chewing on ice, hard candy, or non-food items. Come in for regular cleanings — the crown-gum margin is where new decay can start if plaque builds up.
